Drivers will be granted new driver licenses with bar codes and other security features from July23 (in Panama province) and Ausgust 20 in the rest of the country. The licenses are granted according to the first name (not the family name) of the cardholder.
The license will replace the current license at no cost to Panama citizens and "I-" visa holders who :
- already have a digital "cedula" with the Panama flag in the background,
- have no outstanding fines,
- ask for a special ATTT "Paz y salvo".
The Paz y Salvo Electronico website provides information on outstanding fines and other government dues, available to anybody who reads this blog or knows about the service.
Renewals must still be carried out submitting all payments and requirements of the old system.
